Pet of the Month for May 2020
This is Romeo! Romeo came in with an upset tummy, that was causing quite the GI upset. Dr. Leakey suspected that Romeo would have “HGE” or hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. HGE is a general medical term that refers to an inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Affected organs include the stomach and intestinal tract. Underlying medical conditions and environmental factors may trigger gastroenteritis. Since Romeo was feeling so sick and not himself, Dr. Leakey made the decision to keep him in the hospital on IV Fluids for 24 hours. With IV fluids Romeo was able to get hydrated, improve his electrolytes , as well as get medications through his IV that would work faster than an oral medication. After an overnight stay , Romeo was back to his spunky self!
