This sweet girl is Izzy. Izzy is a 10 week old Rottweiler that had a tough fight with Parvovirus. Parvovirus is a very contagious virus that affects dogs. This awful disease can easily be prevented by getting your puppies and dogs properly vaccinated for the parvovirus. It is spread by contact with contaminated feces, but you don’t have to see solid feces for the virus to be present. It can live on the ground or on surfaces in kennels, on peoples hands, or on clothing of people who have been contaminated. Parvo can live outdoors for months if not years and is resistant to many disinfectants. Unfortunately, Izzy’s siblings were infected with the virus as well and didn’t make it. But with the care of Dr. Justin and his amazing veterinary technicians, Izzy fought hard and is recovering very well. Izzy fought so hard to beat this ugly virus, and came out on top!
