Pet of the Month for February 2021

This is Aslan! Aslan is a sweet 10 year old Domestic Longhaired cat who just happens to have Diabetes. Diabetes is a condition that occurs when the body can’t use glucose (a type of sugar) normally. In this case the body needs insulin which maintains the levels of glucose. Just like us humans, dogs and cats can get diabetes too, and just like us they can manage it with Insulin. Aslan and his humans have been managing his diabetes for a few months now. Some of the common indications of diabetes in dogs and cats are excessive drinking with increased urination, and weight loss even though there may be an increased appetite. If you notice any of these symptoms in your pet, it is best to get your pet an appointment with a doctor.  Aslan gets his insulin everyday, twice a day with his meals, and is a very good patient for his family. Aslan still lives a very happy and active life and doesn’t let his condition stop him from living the dream!
